Welcome back for second semester! As mentioned to you before we left for break, we will be "flipping" our class until the end of the year. We've already semi-flipped with the learning logs; however, after much consideration, I'm switching things up a bit for the full flip (notice you're not on Edmodo...). Due to changing the nature of the flipping, the nature of the grading is also changing. Your grade for each quarter will be calculated as follows:
  • 40% = Mastery Quizzes. Each topic will have a mastery quiz for you to take after you have completed the "lesson". Lessons are primarily videos or PowerPoints, and you will need to show evidence (in the form of notes) that you have watched the lesson before you may attempt the quiz. You will have 2 attempts for each quiz. Once you have reached an 80% accuracy (or have taken both attempts), you may move on to the next topic. Quizzes MUST be taken in class. All quizzes can be accessed through Schoolnet on Powerschool. Quizzes are due by the end the quarter to which they are assigned.
  • 40% = Topic Assignments. Each topic will have 1-3 in class assignments associated with it. The assignments will be project/activity based assignments (not single worksheets!). You will have class time to work on these assignments and they are designed to be done primarily at school, but that does not mean you will never have "homework". These assignments will be due throughout the quarter.
  • 20% = Enrichment. Each quarter you will have 1-2 enrichment activities/projects. These are meant to be completed outside of the classroom, and they will be assigned according to your individual needs. Enrichment activities/projects will be placed into an "Enrichment" folder in your shared Google folder. Enrichment activities will be due at the end of the quarter.
